I just bought a Savage for my wife but her hand is hurt and can't apply a lot of force on the clutch lever.
Is there a way to decrease the force needed to apply the clutch?

Try lubing the cable,.. and make sure the cable is routed comfortably...

It's not bad on the stock Savage...
If your wife is very delicate,.. there are cam'd levers that make pulling easier,.. but I don't know how they fit the Savage...

You can also try loosening the lever adjustment,.. to make the pull closer to the grip,... and make sure she's pulling at the end of the lever (more leverage)...

How big is she? Is she a new rider? If shes new at it, yea,, she sure mite have a sore hand. She will get tougher.
Suggestions to put some slack in the cable, make sure the grip is applied toward the end of the lever, good ideas. When putting slack in the cable, put it in gear, pull the clutch lever in, roll the bike. When youre done putting slack in it, if you cant still roll the bike with the cable pulled, dont start it,.
