Title: Micro Cars
Post by 360k+ on 09/22/12 at 09:10:01

Here's something I found interesting as well as historical.   I have never even heard of most of these cars...

I like how the 2nd one (black car) shares lines similar to that of the aircraft.

The museum is closing for good in a few months.  Too bad.

No question, for me it is the HLE Schottenring Car.  Of course, i got a tear in my eye when I saw my old Vespa 400.  It was the same color as the one I had.  Sure wish that I still had it.

That or they couldn't handle the bandwidth of 6 users in a day.

Wall Street Journal says they're auctioning off all of the cars next February.

I gotta go with Gerald on the Schottenring as one of the more classic looking cars.  It has an almost a "Great Gatsby" flair from a day when the rich wore their opulence like a costume.

Going thru the list, it's interesting that many of the 2 stoke cars allowed the motor to run in either direction, instead of implementing a reverse gear.  Of course, this also means the gearbox provided as many gears and as much speed in either direction.  It's a little daunting to imagine someone driving one of these cars at 90kmh in reverse - yikes!   I thought only Dwayne Johnson or Vin Diesel did that?

I was wondering why it said "4 fwd, 4 rev" for gear box.

I thinks the a car
with a 250cc engine would not be safe on the highway, even if it was
stripped down to almost nothing.

I just visited the Micromuseum a couple of weeks ago, got to meet the owner, behind the scenes tour etc. Pretty cool place and a super nice guy.

How do they greet you & how do they say goodbye at the Micro Museum? Do they give you the Micro Wave?
