Title: First long ride Post by Borracho on 09/17/12 at 15:12:36 I have ridden over 4,000 miles so far this year. Most of this is commuting/in-town short trips. Today, I went for a longer ride- 200 miles round trip. Albuquerque through Santa Fe to Los Alamos and back. Observations: I need a windshield. The wind is too blowy at higher speeds for long distance. The seat really sucks. I know about the mod, but I will probably go with a Corbin. I will probably upgrade the rear shocks too. My back is killing me. The bike handles nicely on the back roads at lower speed. It really is a lot of fun. For a few hundred bucks, this bike can really be improved. |

Title: Re: First long ride Post by Serowbot on 09/17/12 at 16:10:09 If you can,... try a Corbin before buying... Some people really like them,.. I find them way too firm and shaped weird... (I'm a lightweight, skinny butt)... You can try a 2" front lift for a couple of dollars... it works real good for me... JMHO... :-?... |

How long did you try the Corbin? It gets softer as it breaks in. Took mine about 2000 miles before it got really really comfy R.F. |

Title: Re: First long ride Post by Serowbot on 09/17/12 at 16:53:44 It was on Gery's bike... so he had it well broke in... If I try to break in a seat with my butt,... the seat breaks my butt in... ;D... |
Title: Re: First long ride Post by J C Stokes on 09/17/12 at 16:56:53 Possibly consider an Airhawk attachment rather than a whole new seat. Just google Airhawk seat. If you ever change bikes you can continue to use the Air Hawk. |
Title: Re: First long ride Post by ColoS40Girl on 09/17/12 at 16:57:34 Before buying a new seat or change up the shocks, try an AirHawk seat pad. It makes a world of difference. After 430 miles in one day, I arrived at my destination with a smile on my face. Go to biker cushion.com and get a $50 discount. You do NOT want the AirHawk 2 as it is plastic versus neoprene. I will not ride without one for longer distances. I am spoiled! :D |
