Title: Re: Divo Ostrov Amusement Park Russia... Post by EJID on 09/17/12 at 09:57:17 WOW!!! Was it really supposed to do that? If so, that's very well orchestrated controlled chaos. Not for me :o |
Title: Re: Divo Ostrov Amusement Park Russia... Post by Greg on 09/17/12 at 09:57:40 Holy crap! And it was a 3 minute ride! Even our local fairs rides are usually a minute or so. |
Title: Re: Divo Ostrov Amusement Park Russia... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/17/12 at 10:55:58 & it holds 33 riders. @ 150 # average, just shy of 5,000 pound payload. Interesting design, but, even if I was young & into thrill rides, I wouldnt be much attracted to that particular kind of motion, Looks like a fine exercise in engineering, but I dont see that being such a long term popular ride, Rollercoasters are in no danger, at all.. That thing wont, IMO, be "The Draw" to get people into the park. Theres a place for it, but Ill never be in the line. In fact, since a rollercoaster malfunctioned & the retainer that held me down kept getting tighter at the bottom of every dip( I was afraid my back was about to be broken) I dont go in those places,. |
Title: Re: Divo Ostrov Amusement Park Russia... Post by Serowbot on 09/17/12 at 11:30:47 I can get motion sick, on spongy soled shoes... You don't do theme park rides with me unless you want my lunch... :-?... |

Title: Re: Divo Ostrov Amusement Park Russia... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/17/12 at 22:28:55 IDK what ya call them, but theres a gizmo ya sit in & they spin it & it rotates on 3 axes ax eze? axises? aww heck,, you know what I mean, & I was able to read a guys t-shirt as I came spinning by. Copuld only make out one word per revolution, but I was able to keep up with where he was thru the gyrations & read a little every time he flew by, |
Title: Re: Divo Ostrov Amusement Park Russia... Post by mpescatori on 09/18/12 at 01:00:39 Axis is singular, Axes is plural, you pronounce it in the same way. Axes (as in, "two hatchets") Not to be confused with "Access" or "Excess" or "Exes" XXX ;D |
Title: Re: Divo Ostrov Amusement Park Russia... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/18/12 at 05:28:11 I knew index & indices, & I knew axis had a plural ending in "sees", but when I typed what I thot it would be, it looked like I had more than one axe,, & Lo & behold, Looka what I found.. The most common axes encountered are commonly the mutually perpendicular Cartesian axes in the plane or in space. The plural of "axis" is "axes," pronounced "ax-ees." |
Title: Re: Divo Ostrov Amusement Park Russia... Post by stinger on 09/19/12 at 01:36:41 Out of those 33 riders, I bet at least 2 puke over the rest. I bet the rider operators pick up a ton of change every evening that fall out of pockets. |
