What top speed have you RYCA people actually seen?

Should be the same as a Savage with the same engine tune...

Weight has effect on acceleration rather than top speed,..
Gearing won't help,.. our engine doesn't reach redline in top gear...
Only the amount of rider tuck will make the smallest of change...

I say,.. 88mph+, luck n' tuck... ;D...

The diameter of the rear tire is 2" larger, so the "gearing" is taller.

The air filter is different....  I don't know if it is more or less restrictive than stock.  (probably more)

The exhaust is less restrictive.

The internals of the carb are different,.. a tad richer I would guess.

The bike weighs 80 pounds less. This WILL make a slight difference in speed.  Go put your Hummer in neutral and push it as fast as you can.  Now, once your get your wind back, go push a Smart for Two as fast as you can.  Compare the diff.  I'll admit, though, the 80 pounds lighter weight might be good for only 1 or 2 mph.

The handlebars (clip ons) have you in a crouch rather than sitting straight up.  Less drag, like you mentioned.

I would think these things would alter something somewhere compared to a stock LS650.

What rpm does a stock LS650 turn at 88 mph?  I suppose we could just compute it.

Serow did speed charts for the various tires on the Savage including the one from Ryca.  Here is the link

As shown in the speed charts theoretical speed if you had the power to reach red line is only about 1 mph faster with the Ryca 18" wheel over the 140/90 15 tire that alot seem to use.

I took it up to 84 mph (a real speed measured by my bicycle computer, not the fiction shown on the stock speedometer). Front end was lifting and dancing, in part due to flyscreen and wide handlebars. Told myself that was enough. I believe it might have hit 90 if I persisted, but my curiosity waned.

The bike is happy up to about 70 mph and riding at legal speeds it is delivering 56 mpg, and I'm not particularly easy on the throttle. I've got about 6K/15 months on the kit now.

I just fitted a second crumb cup at the inlet of the muffler. Already had one at the muffler exit. With a fiberglass re-packing it sounds decent now.

I haven't tried for top speed yet, but today I taped on a gps and noticed the RYCA speedo is about 5% pessimistic.  When the gps shows 63, the speedo shows 60.  I have a 4.00-18 Avon Speedmaster rear tire.

My bike's speedo actually showed to be accurate when compared to GPS. That is with a stock bike and a K555 140/80-15 rear tire. With the stock IRC the bike showed to be faster than GPS.

Saw 94 mph on my '02 speedometer a few years ago with a 152.5 main, K+N drop in filter, opened exhaust port and drilled out sporty. I was tucked behind a small wind screen and hugging the tank with my knees. I was feeding the engine a gallon of cam 2 racing fuel mixed in with some regular. Plenty fast enough for me.
Last time I tried it only got up to 87mph but had saddle bags on the bike and regular in the tank. I tip the scales at 230lbs so I'm working with a bit of a weight handicap. No reason a properly massaged engine and bike couldn't hit the ton or better. If you can't gear it faster then spin it faster.
Get caught riding that fast around here and they take your bike and won't give it back :(.

This is a revival of an old post. There have been several speed posts and info since 2012.
