Post by paulmarshall on 09/10/12 at 22:16:35

Hi, Has anyone  replaced the rear guard or modified the original which required the rectifier to be relocated?

Paul

Well on my hacked off rear fender chopper I put the RR in the airbox.
easy fit, only thing is you disconnect it, put the wire plug through the top and the RR via the filter access cover and plug it in. Worked great in the 3-4K I had it before selling it.
Cool.
Srinath.

That is a very good idea.

Mine is going to go up top...I welded this galv. metal for a back fender and the little plate for the battery and all the wiring to go...

I'd stay away from galvanized anything if you're gonna be welding or at least grind off the plating first. Google "hexavalent chromium"

No, it's still a work in progress. If you're keeping the factory air-box, I vote for Srinath's recommendation of putting it in there.

I have a after market exhaust from the header. It is running very lean so will put a k&n on and bigger jets. But if their is enough room I would like to keep air filter box to hold electrics etc.
