Title: Headlight/Horn Issue
Post by jterrell on 09/10/12 at 14:48:05

Recently bought my first motorcycle, a 2007 Suzuki Boulevard S40, and I am having issues with the headlight and horn.  Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. When one doesn't work neither does the other so Im guessing these are connected somehow. Keep in mind I am a newb and this is my first bike.  I checked the fuses and they are fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd be checking connectors... especially the big multi-pin dudes under the tank...
Pull them,.. spray some cleaner, re-connect...
That otter doer... ;)...

Just fixed my intermittent headlight problem last friday.  The ground wire (black with white stripe) in the under tank connector was not making good contact.  Cleaning did not do the trick since the female contact was a loose fit.  Had to do a little careful reforming of the female contact to resolve the problem.  Resolving the problem down to an individual wire required a bit of wire wiggling while observing headlight operation.  In your case I would suspect either the ground wire or main power feed (orange if I remember right).

"careful reforming of the female"

Interesting.
