Title: Ye 'ol squeaky front brake
Post by stewmills on 09/07/12 at 05:14:04

Seen a lot of other blogs about brakes, but what are the actual experiences here?  I have a stock bile with less than 1000 miles. Front brake squeaks even after breaking down and greasing the caliper and pads with that special sauce from the auto parts store as well as sanding the hard edges on the pads.  I didn't sand the rotor though...

Will new pads alone do the trick with or without sanding the rotor (although it does not appear to be glazed).  If so, what are decent pads.  I want to stop, but not some super high-end pads that are so tight that I lock-up the front tire every time I brake.

Thanks.

Wear ear plugs. They are especially effective against high-pitched noises. Then you won't hear the brakes squeal. With luck, everyone else WILL hear them, and you can hope the noise will attract attention. Think of it as an automatic horn that honks every time you stop.

New pads will fix the squeaky front brake.I changed my out in the first 100 miles.

The OEM pads are noisy.,ECB makes better pads,
Someone here has some pretty fine pads that last long, I cant remember who it is or who makes them,,theyll be around.

Dont worry about locking the front tire up unintentionally. Hafta squeeze pretty hard  to make it squeal.
