Title: DON'T TELL MY WIFE!
Post by teabowl13 on 09/02/12 at 19:47:22

But I bought this today, and I'm not even done with my Roadster!! DANG!!

It's been in storage for about four years the guy says. Tells me he rebuilt the carbs, but didn't have the tools to synch them. It clearly needs fork seals, and the front brake feels more mushy than a mushy front brake should (Hopefully just needs fresh fluid and bleeding....) There's some very light rust, and a tiny dent in the tank, but it looks pretty darned good from a few feet away. Definitely needs tires. 16,xxx miles.
I rode 2 hours north in light rain to go see it, and I hemmed and hawed a bit. He listed it on CL asking $1000, but it needs more than he'd let on. He told me he had a couple of offers already, so when I offered $800, I didn't expect him to take it... Oh well, Now she's all mine! (Well, I still have to go back and pick it up next weekend, but I have the title in my hands at least...)

I can't believe it's freakin' PURPLE! God Bless the folks at Suzuki...
CHEERS!
Chris

Thanks guys;
Yeah, I've looked at these bikes online for a few years now. This is the first one I've ever seen come up near me. I wasn't looking for another project, but OH WELL!!

I actually did tell my wife... not telling her is always worse, and she was actually surprisingly supportive. She even told me not to get rid of my Nighthawk until I was sure I liked this new one... Where did this woman come from? She hasn't been this reasonable for the last two years!! But I digress...

It'll be a couple of weeks at least before I get it on the road. I ordered a manual, new tires, and a few other things for it online already, but I won't even be picking it up until Saturday. I'll keep y'all posted...   ;D

I know I'm a freak, and I'm gonna feel a little like Prince in Purple Rain, but I really like the dark eggplant color of the bike. Mostly I'm excited to have a nice smooth twin. I've grown really bored with the Nighthawk's 750-4. It's a great bike, and rock-solid reliable, but there's not a whole lot of engine character there....
