Title: Hamburgrers  Hotdogs or Brats?
Post by Drifter on 08/26/12 at 05:30:30

Which is your favorite?  Do you grill fry boil or eat em raw?  :o

I like to grill all types of food from steak, pork fish Deer..Yum i always enjoy the smell drifting around the area, nothin like havin a few cold ones for all that hard work either ::)...kinda makes a bad week or day just fade away.

I gan only go so long with out a burger though, i understan Ol Jimmy Buffetts tune cheese burger in paradise tomato onion musterd and a big ol pickle dill cold draft beer.....

Nothing like a big old dog covered with mustard ketchup and relish on a cool fall day at a football game.....and a cold draft beer!  :)

Grilled with fried onions or sauerkraut.

Growing up I always liked hot dogs more than burgers.
Now I kind of prefer burgers to dogs.
I like 'em grilled. My GF likes them boiled.
I also never liked relish but it's growing on me.

When I was a pudgy teen I enjoyed them as big as they could make them. Ketchup, mustard, cheese, chili, onion, and bacon.

I have been known to consume the precooked dogs "raw".

Love them both - grilled with lots of mustard and pickles.  I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!  :P

Why choose? Eat both burgers and dogs. Grilled is best. I like and try all kinds of toppings. The best ones are the ones someone else cooks!

Try doing hot dogs spiral cut sometime, you'll never make them the normal way ever again.

I'll give the edge to the burger,.. but, it's all about the bun...
No crummy burger/dog buns... a hard roll or Kaiser for a burger, and a hard french roll for dogs, or preferably a bockwurst sausage with a real skin casing...
... and hold the ketchup... :-?...

Now you gone an' dunnit',... made me think about food too long... :-?...
Gotta' get my grillin' gear on... :)...

Hmmm,.. spiral cut sounds good... ;)

Cheesy brats. Ketchup, mustard and sweet relish.
Burnt out on burgers n dogs.
A good chilli dog still passes muster though i got to leave the onions off anymore. Ulcer dont like em.
Dairy Queen has a good bacon n cheese grill burger...lol
1/2 pounder with an order of onion rings and shrooms with a Moca or malt. ;D

My wife did this for a 4th of July picnic we went to. They were AMAZING.

I'm a fan of both. Got some of both to make up now, but with the rain coming, we'll probably make them on the stove instead of the grill.

I used to enjoy a nice Swiss, mushroom burger.
Of course had to have the fries..
Has been quite a while since I have allowed myself
to enjoy one.
Now it is grilled chicken, no buns.. Lots of spicy
mustard and vegetables..
May have to have a burger, beer day sometime soon. :) kim

Those spiril dogs look good, alot more surface area to brown!  A beer brat is pretty good on cool evening along with a cold beer....

Spoken like a true Rochester man. I grew up about 40 miles west of you (Middleport). It's astonishing how few people know what a "white hot" is, or what they're missing.

I'll just add that the skin of a REAL hotdog must snap or crack or whatever when you bight into it or it isn't worthy of the name. Those at Ted's Hotdogs, a Buffalo, NY, institution, never disappoint, in no small part because they're charcoaled, as God intended.

I had one from Henrietta Hots on a trash plate.
So good. Too bad I had stomach cramps the rest of the night.

I'm not much on beef anymore so instead of hamburgers I grill or panfry pork burgers from ground pork. They are great with the usual condiments but the flavor really pops with some Jamacian jerk seasoning or "Smokehouse Maple" seasoning.

If I get the urge for a regular hamburger I head for a Hardee's and get one of their mushroom swiss thickburgers. About the best you can get at a fast-food joint.

For dogs....nothing beats a good Brat!

Burgers would probably be my overall favorite of the three but brats are pretty close.  Brats get boiled in beer (usually something like a honey-wheat) and then browned on the grill.

At home, I like a big juicy steak on the grill....no messing around with anything else. :)  On the other hand, hotdogs or brats cooked on a stick over the campfire is the only way to go when camping! ;)

I've pretty much given up Red Meat, but I will say Brats I will fall victim to.

We used to have German neighbours in the next unit to us where we live. They used to make their own sausages. They would buy a whole pig, butcher it and cook away for a weekend. We had a Labrador retriever at the time and one day she brought in the whole head of a pig after we had let her outside. Scary shite. Shades of Lord of the Flies.
They thought the dog would enjoy it, but we asked them not to do it again.
The dog was broken hearted, but the sausages they gave us were the best I've ever had. :D
When I make burgers I use 1/2 pork and 1/2 beef and season them with garlic powder, onion powder, and my super secret seasoning that I call Pixie Dust.
As far as hot dogs go I like turkey dogs.
