Title: My ride; she bumps
Post by gutwrenchinggore on 08/08/12 at 07:39:19

When I'm riding along in the morning, even on fairly flat new asphalt, my savage will jiggle me. Not vibrate, like a fast frequency, but in time with the engine. I don't know if I can describe this accurately, but I'm fairly sure that it isn't just the way a one-lunger is supposed to feel. My best guess is that I need to clean and replace a bunch of stuff, which is going to happen as soon as school starts up again. I'm ordering a Verslagen sometime soon, and have already got new jets and carb cleaner. Also new spark plug. The works. My goal is to get this baby running sweet again.

but back to my question, is that just what it is to ride a savage, or is there something wrong? The bumping and jiggling only happens when I'm accelerating.

Tighten (torque) ALL the motor mount bolts.

Two are by the foot peg mounts (and hold them on).  One more towards the back of the engine.  And all the bolts the hold the top mount bracket to the frame and the motor.

+3   she's a right little rocking horse if her motor mounts are loose.   And yep, they DO get loose !!!

Okay, I'll start there. Don't want her to be fallin apart on the road.
