Title: Changed Oil, Pulled the wrong plug...
Post by cbang000 on 08/08/12 at 05:52:59

Hey there, First post, so I hope it is in the right place.   Anyway I have a 2000 Savage with about 4000 miles on it.  I did my first oil change on her the other day and had pulled a chrome plug on the front of the block.  Some oil came out, but not much.  I have attached the picture and just curious what this is.  Also after changing the oil, the bike starts a little differently now.  It will start right away, but I need to keep on the throttle for about 10-15 seconds when it is cold to keep it running. If it is warm, it is fine.  The choke isnt out or anything so I am stumped... Anyway I love this site!  Oh, and I did find the actual drain plug! ;)

That's a test port, not the drain plug.
The drain is on the bottom on the other side.

Look at reply #13 on that post for a good picture of where the drain plug is.

As for the running issue..  did you put too much oil in?  (I don't see how that would cause what you describe.. but it might)

Try putting it on 1/2 choke. Why is it different? Heck if I know,,
