With the sissy bar off and the sissy bar brackets out and nothing to impede or rub on, what would be the maximum tire width the stock fender would accept before it started rubbing on something?

I don't have any interest in trying to put a car tire on my bike :-?

So a 165 15 or larger street bike tire will require mods?

All the mods would be required for a 165/90-15 bike tire

Some of the mods will be required for a 150/90-15

Some bolt mild head grinding on the left side may be required for a 140/90-15

Stock no brainer tire is a 140/80-15

That's a full centimeter extra per side - about all the room there is between the tire and swing-arm on the right side is 1cm. A 160/60 is also gonna be 2" shorter than the stock 140/80. That's a significant difference. That's a scooter tire, leave them for the scooters.

Got it. What about choosing tires? Stupid question: Do I need to get tires speciffically that take tubes? Or can I get whatever I want? Can you use tubeless tires on a spoked wheel?

You can use tubeless tires with tubes and you'll need to with our wheels.

Much thanks for the answers. Last Q, I think, so what tube will I be looking for on new tires? It would depend on the size of the tire? Or are all tubes for 15" wheels created equally? What about the valve configuration? And where do rim strips come in? Are they needed?

You will be looking for a tube to match the tire size. Some tubes will work on tire sizes close to each otherm but in general the size marked on the tube should match the tire size.

Valve stem configuration is somewhat a matter of choice. The straight stem may look better, but is harder to get to for checking. Many like a right-angle valve stem, mounted to point to the right (side opposite the pulley).

A rim strip is essential. It is a strip of rubber that lies in the "valley" between the beads, and it forms a barrier between the spoke nipples and the inner tube. It protects the tube from being chafed through by the spokes. The rim strip will have one hole in it that lines up with the hole in the rim for the valve stem.

have you found a rim with a drum set up to make it work??? or what are your plans ( disc brake in the rear? ). pictures possibly?

None of the above lol. These were just simple basic newbish tire questions that I had ;)
