Title: Bar End Weights
Post by ralfyguy on 08/01/12 at 11:10:34

Would it improve the handle bar vibrations at all to install a set of those, and if yes which are some good and easy to install ones?

I have read that they do help improve on the vibrations but as where to get some I cant help there. maybe if you could get some solid roundstock that fits in the bar ends and cut off a couple pieces and jb weld. or weld them into the end of your bars ?

if you still have the stock bars, they already have bar weights from the factory welded in the bars right at the ends.

Well heavier the bar, the less it will shake.

If you got stock bars and want to make it heavier...
get a ton of BB's and drill a hole in the center of the bars, under the clamp so it's hidden and fill it with BB's.

The bars are drilled for the controls, so you might check to see if you can pour them in there.

that's the cheap route.

if you search vibration and grip (not on SS.com) I know there are several solutions.

And if you like big grips... Iso grips.

I filled mine with lead shot and used a wine bottle cork in each end.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions.

Did you drill a hole to fill them with lead shot or how did you get them in there?

Yea weights or filling the bar typically lessens vibration, well worth doing if you have aftermarket bars  :)

The vibrations is actually not bothering me in particular, it's that I can't see anything in the mirrors, especially at hiway speeds. I mean I can see that there is an object, but not necessarily what it is and how fast it is approaching. Pretty much can't tell if it's a truck a semi or a car most of the time, and surely not if it's a copy or not. Unless it's dark, I couldn't even tell if a copy or ambulance had the lights going in the daytime.
I sure couldn't hear them coming and it makes me nervous. I checked everything, but there aren't any loose bolts or anything either.
