Title: Where are all the Savages?
Post by RandomHero on 07/29/12 at 14:38:44

ive been going nuts seraching Craigslist for the past month for a non-running Savage i can pick up for cheap and work on, and not 1 has popped up. Well, one did but the dude didnt reply to my email.

Also the only other ones (running) that popped up are from a dealer charging way to much, and a teal colored one with low mileage that just wont  sell.

San Antonio w/ a budget of $300-$400 currently (more as time goes by)

Make sure you search for Savage, LS650 and S40

And.. no.. you can't have one of mine.  They both run.   :D

Place a listing on Craigslist that you are looking for one......it may come find you.

I also search Suzuki 650.....and sometimes a Savage will be listed that way without the S40 or LS650 wording.

You just have to be patient and keep looking.
I have found all but one of my parts bikes on Craigslist, and the other was the local Trader paper.  It can take months before one pops up that is the right price and in my area of search.
I also check all cities within a 200 mile radius...that helps a lot.
When searching, I will enter Suzuki Savage, then Suzuki S40, then Suzuki LS650.  I do them individually just to be sure I don't miss any listings.

Happy hunting.

Another thing to try would be http://craigsy.com/ which searches multiple Craigslist sites at the same time.  It save me the trouble of remembering all of the sites I need to look at to find local deals.  :)

Just joking about the Teal  :) I bought mine not running, no side covers, battery or key w/ 17000 miles. He wanted 650, got it for 500. 350-400 would be a hell of a find! Hope you find one.

I got mine with 6,500 miles for $500.  :)  They're out there.  But you gotta remember, this is riding season.  It's much easier to find bikes cheap in the winter when they're collecting dust and people have Christmas presents to buy.  ;)
