Title: Simple air filter Q!
Post by RanDaMan on 07/27/12 at 10:44:47

I put a k&n cone rc-1250 on the s40 and when ever i hit the throttle i can hear a slight whistle coming from it as it sucks in air. is this normal or does it mean i didnt seal something properly when putting it on the carb and the carb back on the head?

Intake noise is normal; it just shows you have "unrestricted" air flow that flows in such a way that it whistles.

Air leaks don't really affect the sound; they affect how the bike runs, so if you installed an air filter and the bike's reaction doesn't make sense, you might want to make sure you've sealed everything up right.

Personally, I like the "whistling" intake sound. Compliments the sound of the exhaust.
