Title: Automatic chain cleaners?

Yeah I know I know, what for do you need a chain cleaner on a belt? hardy har har, so a question for guys with other bikes: Are those automatic chain cleaners worth it? I was looking at the Kettenmax cleaner. All opinions welcome.

Seriously, I've never considered it.  My Honda VFR800 covers about 7,000 miles a year.  I use a chain wax every 500 miles, and clean the grunge off about 3 times a season.  I usuallly figure 20,000 miles to the chain, and my existing chain is at end of life.  Webbikeworld wasn't impressed either.

I read that but if you read it closer, you'll realize he's saying he hasn't found any decent cleaning method as of yet and that, in fact, the Kettenmax made his chain cleaner than any other method he's tried. But that's one person.

I use a Loobman manual chain oiler. At 33K miles my 1200 Bandit still had its original chain and sprockets. No cleaning was necessary -- it is self-cleaning. I use cheap motor oil. After selling the Bandit I fitted the Loobman onto my TU250. Loobman, about $35, google it.

If a chain is internally/permanently lubricated, isn't that thing just going to make your chain even sticker and make more crud build up on it?
