Title: saddlebags and bracket

What's the consensus on the best saddlebags and mounting hardware for a 2012 S40 (not that it's changed much in 20+ years).

I don't think you will find a consensus on what is best. On the home made side, anything from ammo cans to ruck sacks have been used. On the commercial market, you have your choice from leather, plastic, cloth, hard side, soft side...on and on and you can get a recommendation for about anything out there.

I would recommend you buy the hardware from Suzuki or from a dealer that takes returns. Make sure it is for your model year. And for the bags themselves, there is a good chance you will need to move the rear turn signals. There is just a little over 12" between the top of the shock and the turn signal stalk. Measure carefully. There is a write up on one way to do this in the tech section.

My choice was cloth saddlebags from Cycle Case. Reason? Cheap and I like the high visibility yellow.

Good hunting and welcome.

Find yourself a salvage yard, bought my last set from them for 40 bucks. As for the brackets, there is only one set as far as I know. Check the marketplace.
