Title: Global jetsettings K&N and Dyna or Sportster muff
Post by RobSchneider on 07/18/12 at 03:56:35

Hello there,

Does anyone has a clue of the global jetsettings for mounting an K&N RC-1250 along with a sportster or dyna muffler?

I know it depends on various variables, but just a jet setting to start with... Main jet and pilot jet .

I have a Savage from '87, not sure what the stock mainjet and pilotjet are...

Anyone could help me out, I would be very thankfull!!

80's Savages are odd sods as far as jetting...
They start out with a #155 main stock, but a 47.5 pilot...
Modern stock, is 147.5 main, and a 52.5 pilot...

So,.. you might just try a #55 pilot and keep the main stock...
Just a guess, though...
80's bikes also have a three notch needle jet.
step up one notch on that, too...(raise needle higher)...
Then see what you got...

I have no practical experience with the 80's models.
Every 2000 to 3000 ft... elevation,.. makes one step leaner...(a step is #2.5 increment...#155,#152.5,#150, etc...)...

Hey Serow,  what size and length screws are needed to replace the stock screws on the bowl, slide cover and TEV valve so I can get rid of the strip prone stockers and put in the good cap head bolts?

Screw sizes....

Carburator Bowl - M5
Floatchamber - M5
The little cover on the RH side of the carb is the
Transient Enrichment Valve - M4

From the Tech Section... I don't know the lengths...

155 is the most I'd go with. Along with a 55 pilot.  But try it and see...
