Title: Pics of my New to me truck
Post by Yonuh Adisi FSO on 07/06/12 at 16:46:24

Well, here is a pic of my new to me truck that I promised a while back.

It was built using the chassis from an old moving van.

Is that bed longer than a "long bed"?

The bed is 10 and a half feet long. As I said before the chassis is from an old moving van. It's got a 454 under the hood and a three speed with granny manual transmission. This truck was built for one thing, to WORK.

It is a full ton and has twin 20 gallon tanks. (one on each side).

Love the truck... Always wanted to buy a Uhaul and use part of a van body with a pick up bed on it.

Yes it's very cool that Yonuh cobbled a pickup to a large van. But why would he pay to put gas in it?  I don't mean to diss the project.  Just curious.

Nice! I've been considering mounting the cab and front sheetmetal off my 69 D100 onto my D700 based motorhome chassis. 413 in the motorhome gets 6 mpg, 318 in the 1/2 ton gets 8 mpg...

First off, I wish to make it clear that I didn't build this truck. A friend of mine did and I bought it from him when he got a standard sized dually with an automatic.

I did help him work on it however which is why I new this was a good truck. I only paid a grand for it.

We are gonna use the truck to move to Nevada. Besides, we really needed a truck to haul stuff with so we don't have to keep borrowing a truck from friends.

Empty, I can go 200 miles on one tank. (tested it on July 3rd going to Santa Rosa for my wife's Birthday.)

It needs a tune up though. I installed the roll bar and running boards right after I bought it.

Joint project, close enough  ;)

Sounds like some of your karma is coming back, considering your other truck got ripped off.

$1000 is cheap.  'course you probably would have had to pay U-haul or Ryder about half that just for truck rental... so effectively you got yours for $500.

& once youre done with the move, maybe you can sell it for more & get something utilitarian, maybe a small pickup that gets better MPG,so you can start savin up again for your bike,,

You otta just see what a truck would rent for to move you over there. Just for giggles.
You can rent stuff from them, even if you dont rent a truck. Those furniture dollies are the berries & so are the refrigerator dollies.,HF has the furniture dollies, but IDK the price. Whats gottan hard to get are Boxes,, they used to be so easy to get, just go to the grocery store & get all ya wanted,, but not now,, Poultry boxes are the berries, if you can get them, theyre heavy walled, & they have handles in them & theyre a good size. IIRC, theyre even slightly waxed inside,
