Title: Link length for hard-tailing?
Post by Cavi Mike on 07/05/12 at 11:35:14

I picked up some tubing and I'm about to head into work and make my links, finally, but I'm not sure how long I should make them. With about 1/4" of clearance between the frame and tire, I have a measurement of 8-1/2" center-to-center. What are your experiences on tire-expansion? Is 1/4" enough clearance? I want the tire to hug the frame close as possible to eliminate any gap. Gap is enemy #1.

I know 3/4" is enough, half might be.

I made mine about 8in(i think they are shorter), but then I am not using the stock rear fender, and modified my frame a bit too
