Title: carb question.
Post by renegade1 on 07/04/12 at 12:40:11

Hey guys I have an 88 and was wondering if the carb stays the same throughout the years or has changed, just wanting to see if a local shop would have a jet kit. AND, do any of you think a 155 main  and a 47.5 pilot is wierd? thats what was in my bike... could that make it run lean?

Those are stock jets for a 88'...
The carbs are internally slightly different...
Your model also has a three position adjustable needle... you just move the clip, instead of having to use spacers...
Ain't that neat!... ;)...

The slide in the carb, has a metering needle on the end of it...
It meters fuel the mid-range...
Older 80's bikes have an adjustable needle.
It's a good thing...

oooohhh i see there is three slot on it which would move the white spacer up or down does this now mean i dont grind the spacer down to half? just move to lowest ring right?

Hit it with some Berrymans & wipe it with paper towels, Make sure to leave no bits O paper in the bore,,

Im not the best guy to ask about that, well,, IDK what position to put it in, I dont think grinding is the answer on that carb. If we could move ours, we wouldnt have to grind,

Like Bill says...
You don't have to shave the spacer... you use the three position clip... the higher you raise the needle, the richer you go...
