It has been a long time since i have posted here so hello everyone!
I hope everyone has been well! i havent had a chance to really browse the forum (i just got my first house and boy that keeps me so busy)

Quick question regarding valve clearances.

Last maintenance i have done was probably 1.5/2yrs ago

Bike doesnt get much use lately, maybe once every 2 weeks. (grr)

Anyway past few months(or more) i have notice a clicking coming from the engine, seems to be the top of the engine.

Finally forced my self to rip her apart and do some general maintenance (general crud wash down, air filter, spark plug, clean carb, check valves)

The intake valves seem OK, the 004 fits nice, the 005 if i push a hard, 006 not even.

the exaust valves are 003 and 0025.
I plan on adjusting the one to 003.

questions
1) can i have 003 on exaust and leave 004 on intake? or should i make them all the same?

2) I realize specs call for 003-005 but Whats better: the tighter side (003) or looser (004 or 005), i have no problem adjusting all of valves to whatever.

3) last time i did maintenance my cam chain tensioner was at 15 or 16mm, havent checked it since, could a loose tensioner cause a clicking or would i just hear chain rattle? ( i do hear a tiny bit of chain rattle, i think.).

3.5) should i check the tensioner? (i was kind of avoiding that since i dont have any oil and filter on hand, more or less just planned on tackling the clicking this weekend)

I'd say that was tight on the exhaust, I'd make them .004 at least.
some of the clicking is due to one side being .003 and the other .0025

How many miles since the last cam chain check?
figure about 1mm per 1000 miles as a worse case wear.
and you can tip the bike over about 45° and take the cover off w/o loosing but a teaspoon of oil.

I adjusted the exaust valves to 004 and noise gone!

When i was testing her around the block I heard the oh-nuts-what-did-i-forget-to-tighten rattle.

When i got back home i realized im now missing a 10mm wrench  >:(.

Lesson learned - dont leave your tools sitting on top of the starter when working on bike, or at least remove them when done.

As for the tensioner, its been probably a good 4k, howver im going to save that for next weekend (i gotta dig out the gasket and thats a chore in it self). I have a feeling thats going to open a fresh can of worms when i check it   :-/

Missing wrench... aha... reminds me of my old job at an auto parts store.. we were missing about 3 10mm wrenches.. people would call the store when they got home and say they found a wrench in their engine.. not my fault, I keep the tools out of the engine so I don't lose them.. and I'm no mechanic :D
