Title: Fender Bib
Post by Greg on 06/28/12 at 12:46:07

My fender bib arrived today. I will try to figure out how I want to attach it. This is a quick shot of it just chillin' on the fender.

Really nice! Where did you order it from? Is the rectifier still under there?

This is the one I got: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/fender-bib-plain-750-ace/part/M-78075

The rectifier isn't under there any more. I stuffed it in my airbox. There is a bump/dip because my mail lady really likes to cram stuff in my community mailbox. It will flatten out soon. Until I come up with a permanent solution, I think I will use some 3M body molding tape for now.

I am still undecided about the rear so the molding tape stays for now. The front slot lined up perfectly with the old pillion bolt hole. Here are some new shots...

Sweet!!! the "Sun Dawg" my yellow '96 had a tank bib when I bought it. Thought about throwing it out but I'm starting to like it much better now. Fender bib might be in the works now too.

That really sets off the rear fender!!!

I wish youd pull it back & take a shot of the fender. I may have an idea on how to secure it at the rear w/o drilling or messing up paint,

Hot glue a few 1" pieces of magnet strip to the bottom of the bib. Keep it between the ribs and nobody will ever see the outlines. Cost effective and holds up pretty well.

Looks pretty good on there.

Thanks everyone!

JOG, I will take a shot today.

We had a surprise storm last night. The molding tape didn't stay attached to the underside of the leather. Just an FYI.

JOG, here is a shot of it lifted...

I like the looks of that,   Just might be what I need to cover the holes left from removing the stock rear tail light, until I decide what to do for a new rear fender.

I guess the thing to do is ask, is there a place to mount a wire back there toward the seat? If so, a piece of thin foam to fit the shape of the bib, run the wire thru, hook it on the screw near the seat, bend another hook & mount a concho or soimething in the hole at the rear. A few magnet strips in the foam & it otta stay on & straight even in a big crosswind.

Coathanger isnt the answer, piano wire is, & youll need 2 mounts near the seat, itll swing on one, Or, one front & 1 rear & youre there..

Since there is a liner, I will probably try attaching a couple magnets to it. That way the fender won't get scratched. It doesn't seem to move around much as it is, I would just be more comfy knowing there is somehting holding the rear end down.

Wonder how it would look with a luggage rack over the top of it?

I want to go this route also just need something to strap my lunch and hard hat to on the way to work  :D

Don't know. But you can always just wear your hardhat and put your lunch in a duffel bag over your shoulder!

Look under The Projects section, I have a picture of my '01 Savage where I took a stock rear fender, removed the rear seat and tail light, welded holes shut for tail light and rectifier, pounded round the flat where the rectifier was, then put on a luggage rack,  I find it works great to strap on my lunch box/etc when I ride to work

And I would lose my hard hat before I hit 70  ;D and I do put my lunch in a backpack right now, Hard hat gets bungee netted to the rear seat.
