Title: Rear fender Modification How To's???????????
Post by Bamm on 06/24/12 at 12:54:13

Now that I have her running and I am riding while weather permits; I have been thinking about changing appearances. With this in mind, where I can find a "how to" for modifying my rear fender to get rid of the sissy bar and rear seat. Or is there a rack that I can mod to cover the unsightly when I remove them. I prefer not to do any grinding so a lug rack would be perfection should it sit low enough to cover wheat the seat normally would. IDEAS?????

You can swap the rails or just pull the sissy bar & get some square tubing trim to plug the holes in the old rails. Swapping is probably the nicer look.
When the old passenger seat comes off, there will be things there that arent exactly pretty to look at. YOu can relocate then & get something to cover the area. IIRC, a guy did it with a Honda fender bib & it looked nice. I wanna say he is still around & his name is Jimmer & he is from Florida, but,, I could be Sooo wrong,, but drop him a PM if ya can.

JOG mentioned it. My research pointed to a 2002 Honda Ace 750. I can't remember how that came about though. I haven't ordered mine yet. Probably this week. Here are a couple of threads it was mentioned in:

According to Mustang's site, 98-03 use the same one.

OK...I just ordered one. I'll let you know how it works out. Also, in this photo you can see the difference between just removing the backrest and plugging it versus using S40 rails. I did grind off the rear seat hook thing since this photo. I need to remove the rear wheel so I can route the wires behind the left rail. With the lower fender my fingers don't reach the hardware any more.
