Title: Just installed a Jardine exhaust... Post by Dave Sisk on 06/21/12 at 22:19:36 ...bought from one of our fine members who decided to take it off his bike. (Thanks man!) It fit perfectly, bolted right up to the original holder, etc. In fact, it took longer to get the stock exhaust off than it did to install the new one. First impressions...it's L-O-U-D under hard throttle. 8-) I think I like it. I definitely like it better than the stock exhaust (even after the drill mod)...the bike doesn't sound like a VW Beetle any more. ;D The Jardine is not as deep sounding as the stock exhaust, but has a lot of mid-range percussive bark to it. I tried adjusting the carb after installing the Jardine. I ended up getting the highest revs by turning it all the way clockwise (ie., making it more lean). I've said this before, but I'm pretty sure the prior owner already re-jetted the carb with larger jets. Half of the cross-section of the Jardine is just a straight-through pipe...the bike has to have already been re-jetted. Anyway, I'm digging the Jardine exhaust. I also tried starting it up with no muffler at all on it...now that's L-O-U-D x 2. Cheers, Dave |

Post by Dave Sisk on 06/22/12 at 09:04:07 Oh, one thing I'm still trying to figure...I wouldn't mind taking the chrome cover off the stock exhaust and putting it over the joint where the Jardine muffler connects to the header pipe. However, this chrome guard attaches to the stock muffler via a few screws into a bracket welded to the muffler, and the Jardine doesn't have the same bracket welded to it, of course. Anyone got any ingenious ideas for a simple way to attach it? I haven't taken it off the stock muffler yet and looked at it closely yet... Cheers, Dave |

Id hunt one thatll look nice instead of solving the problem of mounting the stock one, Check out the Supertrapp heat shield & look around at other bikes, Id bet Harley has one thatll go there & look right, |

That cruising percussive bark that it had was just a bit much for me. It didn't allow me to hear anything that was going on with the bike itself. As for the heat shield the one I have that worked with it and is also what I'm using with the new muffler I got from Ryca is the same one that Greg posted in the second pic. R.F. |

Post by Dave Sisk on 06/27/12 at 09:04:01 So...after riding with the Jardine exhaust a few times and getting used to it...I think I can say it's a keeper. It's loud (just a little short of obnoxiously loud, meaning too loud), visually it looks good (will look even better when the chrome guard arrives and I get it on the bike), and I'm quite digging it. I wouldn't mind the tone being a *little* deeper, but I can live with that. Cheers, Dave |

I noticed that I have a little bit of exhaust leak around the joint where the Jardine muffler and the stock header pipe mate up. I've got the clamp on pretty darned tight. Any suggestions? Rubber or metal sleeve? Sealant? Thoughts? Dave |

Title: Re: Just installed a Jardine exhaust... Post by Greg on 06/28/12 at 09:07:55 Ribbed veggie can cut at an angle. Or a couple of wraps with a soda can. Make sure you have 4 slits minimum so it will clamp down. If it won't slide on all the way without hitting the necked down part of the header, cut that off.
