easy question didn't see a posting on it. Do you need to take off the rear seat bracket to remove the lights? or is there an easy trick to it?

When you say "lights" do you mean just the tail/brake bulb or what? If you mean the bulb, just remove the two screws in the lens, which is pretty typical on all bikes.

rear turn signals. i want to move them down to behind the plate using a small diameter rod and put some cheepy bags on, I already bought them... there a little big but, I'm sick strapping my backpack to the rear seat. I use it for a daily commute to work.

You gotta remove the side rails to get at the wiring.

I recently removed the stock rear turn signals and installed replacement turn signals using a 7" "U" bracket on the license plate holder. Once you remove the seat, it's easy to see where the two wires feed to each rear turn signal. I realized I'd have to lengthen the wires, so I just cut the original wires and pulled them out, without removing the side rails, added about 30" of 20 gage and ran all 4 new wires down the center hole in the fender with the rubber grommet. I had to wack about 1/3 of the grommet in order to give me the added space for the additional 4 wires.
The underside of the rear fender has a support bracket which has room to accommodate the 4 additional wires and keep them off the tire. I cut the clip end off a 9" wire tie, electrical taped the + & - wires to it and slid them through the support bracket, two wires at a time.
Believe me, if I can do this modification, ANYONE can!

thanks, I'll be doing the project this weekend... hope these cheap bags are not tooo big... ill have to mod the bracket to make sure they fit i guess. if you have got a pick of your that would be great. i don't have the tools to do the fancy spacer with tapped spacers and all that jazz. saw someone used a pole and what not. cheap and sturdy is all I'm looking for. I'm guessing i have to remove the tire?

The hardware to remove the rails is pretty difficult to reach without removing the wheel and shocks, it's much easier to access the plugs from under the seat. Leave the OEM wiring where it is for now if you don't want to deal with the hassle. Then you can just run a new set of wires down where the brake light wiring goes.
