Title: A day of firsts
Post by Brian on 06/17/12 at 17:39:52

Well I had an eventful day riding today.  Ran out of gas for the first time today, and the worst part is I could see the gas station  >:( . Also burned my leg for the first time.  Put on shorts after my ride and just hopped on to move it to a different spot and tapped my leg on the pipe.  So not the best day, but I put in about 50 miles riding around so it wasn't that bad...

You had a great day & just dont know it., YOu coulda been 20 miles from a station. You coulda fallen over & the pipe landed on yer leg. Woulda been a lot more than a tap., And, hopefully ya learned some things today that will make the odds of ever havin a worse one less. Congratulations! You survived!

well today's going even worse.  Short shifted into  neutral leaving a red light for the first time and dropped my bike for the first time (loose sand in the parking lot).  Luckily I was going like 2mph and managed to hop off before it landed on me.  I'm just having a bad run, might drive the truck for a day or two and then try again.

Well, sounds like your getting all the foolishness out of the way.  Now you know to look at the surface of where you are going, not just to make sure there is no car, but that the sand isn't there, the leaves aren't, oil isn't.etc.  Now, when you ponder dropping the bike at 50, just take everyones word that it hurts....you really don't have to experiment.   ;)

Back in the day, (the 60's) most dealers made you ride up and down in front of their shop once..then patted you on the back and ran back inside.   I jammed my Honda 305 superhawk and stalled in second, took ten minutes to finally get it into neutral so I could start it.  This of course was in kenmore Square in Boston at 5 pm. :D
