Title: Apple 1 sold
Post by 360k+ on 06/15/12 at 17:05:52

One of the 6 remaining operational Apple 1 computers just sold on auction today for $350k.   The Apple 1 was basically a big pcb board full of chips.   You had to buy your own separate keyboard and B&W screen.  I remember when you could buy the board brand new for $666.66.

My brother used to have an Apple 2E. Big ol' floppy drives almost the size of a record albumn. All we ever did on it was play pong and golf.

LOL have to share an old floppy disk story... while in college, I had a professor from Indonesia.  His English wasn't the greatest, and he couldn't pronounce the "S" in "disk", so it came out "dik".  One day the computer was having trouble reading my disk (the big ole 5-1/2" flexible original kind), so he came over to check it out.  He figured out that I had bent it in my book bag.  He announced to the class that I had a "bent dik!" and cautioned everyone how bad it was to bend your dik.... it won't work if its bent.   ;D
