Title: Purple Haze...
Post by Serowbot on 06/01/12 at 10:04:03

106' yesterday,.. gonna' be 108' today...
Purple haze blanketing the entire sky,... smoke from the New Mexico fires has settled over Tucson...
Last night,... the sun set a deep burnt orange color,.. you could look right at it with the naked eye... big as a basketball... rippling edges, in a pink and orange sky...

Felt like Mars,.... only hotter...:-?...

Serow

That is a beautiful place where you live. Got to visit there on company money several years ago.  I discovered real quick that "dry heat" comment was a joke. I guess it's dry in an oven too.

Was amazed at how quick a man dehydrates out there. Played golf one day there and it was about 95 or so........never drank so much water on the course in my life.

I can't imagine what it's like trying to keep fluids going ridin the bike.

But absolutely beautiful.

You probably know that you shouldn't look at the sun with the naked eye under ANY circumstances. :o

Yeah, I do...  but it wasn't even remotely bright...
Probably looking through about a 80 mile thick smoke filter at that angle...
It was like looking at a picture of a sunset, instead of the real thing...
Very weird...

I was thinking of the smoke I've seen here in Texas from burning Mexican cane fields but it was just ugly.  What you described sounds really cool.  If you have any pics, I'd love to see them.

Up here in the north country we are experiencing a few days of fog and rain (not unusual) and using the furnace. Low 40's at night and mid 50's daytime.

Ya know I'm odd in that I love really cold weather in the winter (lots of snow too). When people complain about the near zero cold I simply say yes, but it's a dry cold. :D
