Title: Tire Pressure Question
Post by bess227 on 06/01/12 at 06:49:40

still have the stock tires on my 07, only 2k miles on the bike so they are in good shape. I can see the specs on the tire as far as max pressure, but my question is this.

how much pressure should i be running in the front and rear?  they seem to be wearing evenly at this point.

should i run more since i am slightly "bigger than your average bear"?

thanks for the info.

safe ridin over the weekend to everyone.

if you're the combined wt. of 2 ave. orientals, then use the 2 up pressures.

Good starting point offered up, but, like so many things, there are variables. We've seen some who thot the OEM tires were just fine, & others, myself included, disliked them a lot. Mine felt insecure regardless of age or pressure, always felt like it was gonna slide rite out frummunda me, & so, with your tires, there may be some variation in "stiction" , so,
season to taste.

My used '07 came with the original IRC up front and a Dunlop 404 on the rear. Don't know the lineage of the latter, but I'll certainly 2nd JOG2 here. Recently replaced the IRC with a Kenda Kruz. Gone is the feeling the front end'll wash out at the least provocation, gone is its enthusiasm for following every tar snake encountered. It feels more planted in all conditions, even feels better in the wind.

I read some where this method, and I have used it to establish my pressure. Set the tires cold to the manuals pressure. Then go for at least a half an hour ride, pull over and check the pressures, They should have risen 4psi. If the rise is more then 4psi then the cold pressure was too low. If the rise is less then 4, the cold pressure was too high. This has been fairly accurate. I accept this with plus/minus one for very cold or very hot weather. Try different cold pressures to get the 4psi rise.
