Any body using a bigger tank? If so what was your donor.

I've got a five gallon Harley Nighttrain tank on my Sav. A bit of shoe strap engineering goes into doing it, but well worth the effort for long trips. Of course my bike has so many "other" parts on it that it's no longer sure who its real parents are.

Haven't a clue what the year was. It was lying around the Harley shop, an insurance repair replacement leftover. Had to pop a dent out of the left side. It's the model with the gas gauge on the left and the filler cap on the right. I just JB Weld-ed in (on the left side) a match to the screw in locking gas cap I used on the right. Tried an analog clock first but the vibrations killed it pretty quick.

And the nice thing is that with all that gear and me on it the Sav will keep up with anybody on the big roads. It's top heavy when you park it, but on the highway it's as solid as a rock. Big trucks, whatever, it just rolls down the road. Now if it would only get 70+ mpg, set up the tent and cook dinner I would give it an A+.

It's really nice not having to worry about a gas stop in an hour and a half after filling up. With both tanks I've got a good 400 miles to think about it before reserve is needed. Pretty nice when you're out in the middle of nowhere in the Dakotas and such.
