Title: Horrible Throttle Response Post by Jim Arnold on 05/26/12 at 18:25:50 Removed and cleaned the carb today, she needed it badly as the owner i bought her from let her sit for almost two years. After putting the carb back together and back in the bike, I went to start her up, and she sounded weaker in the exhaust than normal (drag pipe). When I went to ride her, the pick up she used to have right out of first is gone. She accelerates, but has no pickup whatsoever, it's a slow and super lagging response, even with the throttle pulled all the way back. Any ideas? |

Title: Re: Horrible Throttle Response Post by Jim Arnold on 05/26/12 at 18:51:20 The diaphragm lip was definitely in the slot. What do you think is going on with the slide that would cause that? |
Title: Re: Horrible Throttle Response Post by Oldfeller on 05/26/12 at 19:51:42 Any sort of oil (even skin oil) can cause the vac actuated slide to be sluggish for a while. I used a blast of carb cleaner on mine to get the oils off. You can clean it, or ride it for part of a week until the gas vapors clean it up for you. |
