Title: Skat
Post by prechermike on 05/17/12 at 03:15:37

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.  Skat's dad informed me she passed away about 5:00 yesterday afternoon, May 16.  That is all I know now.

So sorry to hear this. Glad her suffering wasn't prolonged. She will be missed. I will ride the bike today in her honor.

Rev 21: 4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I didn't have the privilege of knowing her, but i had been following the "quilt" thread for a couple of days, thinking what a great act of kindness you folks were showing her, how genuine you all seemed,  and that she must have been very special to bring out that kind of compassion from all of you here.  It was a blessing to read.

I am very sorry for your loss.

Prayers up for her family and friends.

Grace to all.

Scott

Wow, life is so precious and what is to come unknown.
Paula and I pray for her family for their loss.

Even knowing someone in a small way like many of us do here, still leaves a big empty hole when they are no longer with us.

To those that are grieving,

may you find comfort in knowing that
skat brought much joy into the lives
of others while she was alive.

Makes perfect sense to me. Don't mourn the loss, celebrate the life, right?

Thornton Wilder once wrote:

"But soon we shall die and all memory of those we love will have left earth, and we ourselves shall be loved for a while and forgotten.

But the love will have been enough; all those impulses of love return to the love that made them. Even memory is not necessary for love.

There is a land of the living and a land of the dead and the bridge is love, the only survival, the only meaning."

...and my dear Skat, you are loved.

Skater,...  not only shared, joked, laughed, and entertained with the best of us here...
She also did much of her own work on her bike, and contributed to the knowledge base of this site...
An extraordinary woman...

We don't have a lot of females on this site,.. but they have tended to be exceptionally able, and lively...

;)...

Mike: It's not easy being the bearer of such news, and I thank you for posting and keeping all of us forum members updated.

This is such an obvious blow to our little community. Everyone here gives a piece of themselves and that gives this forum it's personality. Skat's comments and photos gave this place sunshine and beauty. She will be greatly missed.

Very sad new, my thoughts are with her family, and friends. [smiley=cry.gif]

I lost a cousin to a brain tumor last Wednesday also.  Pretty crumby deal, but I'd like to think they're in a better situation/place, or whatever your belief system of choice is.

The breast cancer/SKAT tribute carries on - as well as a few new additions on the new bike's windshield/face.

For Preachermike the fish are swimming towards the evil (God & Country will prevail!) - followed by the USMC, my watch-dogs/cats & SKAT's ribbon.

Time for some fresh ink. And another plaque at the forge.

Lost a brother in law last year from  a hyper-aggressive small cell lung cancer that metastcised (can't spell right now) into his brain. Diagnosed in December, gone in January.

Some things we just can't fix.

Wonder how far the cemetery is from my place... nothing else planned for this weekend.

I have been out of touch for to long. This is very sad news.

Skat,

You have seen all the swords fall and all the arrows fly. You lived and taught others to live. You are now at one with the universe and by remembering the universe we remember you.

You brought joy to those who had none and strength to those that were week. You are a warrior of the highest rank for you did not let the pain of life brake you.

We all love you Skat, and our world has been greatly enriched for having known you.

Now that you have gone to the Westerning Lands, you can rest easy and watch what joy your life continues to bring to those that knew you for even just a little while.

So sad -- a loss to all of us, and especially to her family.

May w all find comfort in her memory.

As for me, my last continuing ed meeting was on oral cancer -- I will be dedicating my new intensity in my screening exams to her memory.

I'll also take the Suzuki out for a nice long cleansing ride in her honor...
