Cast your mind back a wee little bit .....

Exactly what did you think about Annie Lennox when you first herd her sing?

And yes, I will keep her playing background for the entire rest of my evening -- she's worth it even though she is an old lady now she is still strong and sexy when she sings.

A classy lady with a haunting, great voice.  I have all their albums.

I remember that,, good grief,, been a while, huhh? She sounded good, but then, there were so many bands that came & went & were cool for a while, some stayed in the game, just not at the forefront, others, went the way of of the wind, I was pretty partial to the Thompson Twins,, & I liked
Billy Squire for a while,& Billy Idol was okay, & some girl band,, cant remember their name, but the lead singer was Belinda Carlisle,, Mercy!

I find an assertive woman very sexy but she's a bit scary looking. Regardless, I love this song. A powerful female voice has always been my weakness.

Please pardon my comment, but they seem so much like a "Boys' only Platters band" singing an "Only You" spin off...
:-X

The Go Goes.

A few of my personal faves are The Crystals, Pat Benatar, Chrissie Hynde, Anne Wilson, Debby Harry, Sarah McLauchlan, and a relatively obscure little tiny bopper (at the time) named Rachel Sweet.

Don't be scared of her -- her makeup is kinda like KISS's -- intended to make her unique and make her videos sell.   She is a dominant though, make no mistake about it.   Tough and sexy even now as an old lady.

Here, watch this one -- she starts out with her freckled natural face and she puts on her war paint layer by layer while singing her heart-song about being a performer on the road.

Also note as she puts on her mental  "stage attitude" layer by layer.

Now, if you want scary -- here is a younger Annie Lennox in heat channelling a big titted drunken Marilyn Monroe look.

(remember this was 15-20 years before medically altered transvestites even existed, so the tranny resemblance is completely accidental)

Now, imagine jest what would happen if this "totally out of control" Annie happened up upon a troop of Eagle Scouts when they were out camping in the wilderness.

I don't think the tents would remain standing, do you?

And finally, here is Annie Lennox after 30 plus years as a pop diva singing a song along with all her various "identities" all up on the same stage.

This is her "retirement song" then she went into full time charitable work in Africa for aids and starvation.    She still sings to raise money for this and that ....

She's got a Charlie Chaplin look for this one ....  and for an old lady she is kicking pretty durn good.

The woman has strong talents and she has proven she has had the long term staying power -- do you realize that she is now the WORLD WIDE biggest female pop vocalist ever?

Kinda like Cher, she just kept coming back and back and back yet again and again with a new look and style until she had outlived and outsold everybody else in female pop vocals.

I remember when that came out, I was in junior high.  We all thought it was pretty cool, until the video came out!  What's with all the cows? :-?

Gateway computers were big back then -- they used cows as a motif.

Then Chick-fi-la took the cow motif over with the illiterate cow commercials (still using them even now).

Annie Lennox always had something to say about the things surrounding her when she wrote her songs.
