Title: Header smoking Post by martinfilms34 on 05/08/12 at 20:39:51 So now that I've been riding my bike alittle bit more I notice that the header smokes when I'm at a stop. What I think is that the oil from the head plug leak is getting on te header and making it smoke. Is this correct? It doesn't smoke a lot but it does definetly smoke. What can I do to stop this? Sorry for all the questions guys, I'm a young guy, just learning usually my dad would help me with all this but he lives in another country now. Thanks everyone |

Title: Re: Header smoking Post by martinfilms34 on 05/09/12 at 05:52:46 I guess what I ment to ask is: is it okay to run it like this? With the smoke? I know to fix the leak will stop it but yeah. |
Title: Re: Header smoking Post by Paraquat on 05/09/12 at 06:18:04 It's fine for now. Consider it mosquito control. If it stops smoking before you fix it I'd check the oil. --Steve |
Title: Re: Header smoking Post by Spamy on 05/09/12 at 10:51:21 This may be a no brainer, but make sure you oil level is right. I gotten a bike from a guy who had put 5 quarts of oil in the bike when it only needs 2. Reason I say that is because it usually takes a bit more than a drip to burn and smoke in the pipe. Is it smoking from the end or where the clamp is? |
Title: Re: Header smoking Post by justin_o_guy2 on 05/09/12 at 10:53:46 I think its smoking at the head, where the oil is dripping on it from the leak on top of the engine,,but maybe Im reading it wrong |
