Title: 2nd to 3rd is different
Post by nuster on 04/30/12 at 15:29:20

I realize I have very few miles , 80, on the 2012. But the 2nd to 3rd shift is different. I try all different methods, preload, fast, slow, but it is a lot more clunky than the other gear changes and I can not feel the double click click as it passes through the false neutral. More miles should help, but I wondered if anyone else has such a feeling. And completely warmed up at 35mph in 3rd if I just nudge the fuel enrichener out it sure seems to like it so after the 600 mile service i will at least richen the mixture screw and maybe do the spacer thing. Any advice on re-tuning the low end portion of the carb will be appreciated. Bought a 5mm 3/8 drive hex driver for the 3 bolts on the filter cover at Advance Auto. Checked that my drain plug is a 14mm. I would like to find a 14mm 6 point box end wrench. Last thing,it seems that the sweet spot is a needle with above an indicated 60mph. Is this speedometer optimistic like most motorcycle speedos?.

Sounds like a good plan,, thatll give ya time to find stuff to read about the carb tuning,, look in tech, good stuff there.,

That tranny will smooth out or youll get used to it,.,
