Title: Removing anodized finish. Post by arteacher on 04/30/12 at 11:11:00 I have some small parts that have been black anodized and would like to remove the anodizing. I tried paint remover and it didn't work. Any ideas? |

I've even tried blasting it with 80 grit aluminum oxide and it doesn't flake off. Almost nothing, short of chemically stripping it, will phase it. I'd bring it to a plating shop to see if they'd strip it. What's the part if you don't mind me asking? --Steve |

I remember I had some purple anodized bars on a dirt bike back when those colors were cool. It didnt last long and I decided to experiment with some chemicals out of the cabinet and If I remember correctly the gasket remover did the best job. |

Title: Re: Removing anodized finish. Post by striknein on 05/18/16 at 21:22:47 Easy-off oven cleaner in the yellow can. Wear gloves and spray it in a well ventilated area. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes or so to get down to bare aluminum. You'll need to polish the part afterwards though. |
