Just curious about the mileage that others adjusted valves for the first time (or paid someone to do it) and if you thought the adjustment was really needed when it was done. Thanks.

I paid someone the 1st time. I hadnt found this place yet, 5,000 miles.

Thumper got the first valve adjustment at 80,000.. when I changed the cam chain. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Mad Hamish is at 23,000. I'll adjust the valves when I fix the plug cap leak.. some day.

I'm at the 10k mark with mine. I'm looking at .0045-.005
I left it alone and bolted the cover back on.
