Title: Jardine or Harley
Post by vineman on 04/19/12 at 19:28:45

So I've been running around with my Dynaglide muffler for a awhile now and while I really like the sound, i do wish for a bit more loud and rumble. I realize that may not be very plausible for our bikes to be both of those but i also have no experience hearing a Jardine muffler on our bikes either. So I'm wondering which one you guys would put on your bike if it depended on the sound of the exhaust being pretty robust?

Personally,... I'm not a fan of obnoxious loud,...
...but... Jardine wins the loudness contest...
...but, (that's a double but, for those that are counting),.. since you have the Hog muff already,.. try drilling a hole in the baffle... (start with a little one and step up 'till you get what you like)...
Harley mufflers definitely have the best quality chrome, and sturdiest build... and are the bargain upgrade...

Go Jardine, I have one on one of my bobbed savages and with the correct jetting, esp the increase in the pilot jet 1 size, main 1 size and the white spacer mod, the bike sounds great with no backfire or bark. I run a harley pipe for a few weeks but there is no comparison bewteen the two given the increase in poser and sound. I prefer Jardine.

Like Rowboat says, poke a hole in it, poke another,, still dont dig it?

You can always dump $$ for a new Jardine,
I still think the best lookin muffler is the Dyna, & I have a Supertrapp,,
Which you may want to consider, but theyre sure spendy..

Mac Performance 1-into-1 Chrome Suzuki LS650P Savage 88-86 Taper Tip Slip-On Exhaust (http://www.jcmotors.com/p-12931-mac-performance-1-into-1-chrome-suzuki-ls650p-savage-88-86-taper-tip-slip-on-exhaust.aspx)

Says 86-88 but fits my 98 perfectly and works just fine.

Where's the best place to buy the Jardine? I'm assuming 14-4104-01 is the correct number...is it a direct fit without any fab work? Also, what would the proper jetting be on a stock 2011 at just above sea level/700ft after addition of the muffler?

Straight pipe and a "beer can" baffle, sounds like a helicopter while under power, a .50BMG on decel and a 105mm howitzer on shutdown. Shipping on the baffle is more than the baffle ($3.95-8.95). Best straight pipe? Chain link fence top rail...

Ran mine that way for a year. No tickets.

Unless the QC has gone way up in the last 14 years (have I really had my Savage that long, I feel old) Jardine mufflers will turn the most god awful bruise yellow-blue-purple you've ever seen. And that is after re-jetting.

I saw this on youtube, where they're using pipe to make the body, and silencer.  Might be kinda fun to try!

Me asking if the muffler appearance nastied itself away after just a short time was going to be my next question, but looks like you already gave me my answer.

I'm looking for a direct-fit loud muffler that is reasonably high quality and won't need any/much fabricating or creative engineering to install. And if there is such a thing for a 2011, what would the proper jetting be for low level Oklahoma elevations? Thanks.

With proper carb jetting, how long until you noticed banana bruises on the pipes and will something like Wizards Out of the Blue Exhaust Cleaner help clean up the mess? Thanks.

YOu can spend $20.00 on a Dyna & see if it makes ya smile,, or you can buy a Jardine & see if that makes ya smile,

Theres always Supertrapp..

WD, was that one Jardine you saw or did you see several with your time in bike shops?

Were they cleaned before being put in service?
How long did it take for them to go all Bruise colored?
