Title: Re: clean aluminum - forks risers etc. Post by verslagen1 on 04/18/12 at 08:20:20 If it's corroding, the clear coat is gone. remove remaining spots of clear coat, polish and protect. I've been using a product called zoop on the polished areas. But you can repaint with clear coat. |

Title: Re: clean aluminum - forks risers etc. Post by Routy on 04/19/12 at 08:04:10 Mine had small blisters under the clear coat. I wanted to clean them, but changed my mind, it just wasn't worth it fighting the clear coat and all. This would only be done in a complete major restore,.... IMO. |

Title: Re: clean aluminum - forks risers etc. Post by justin_o_guy2 on 04/21/12 at 09:25:34 A palm sized orbital with a green scotch brite pad & a spray bottle of water made my clean up job sooo much easier,, Some clear acrylic spray from Lowes & Whoopeee, it sure looks a lot better,, it downrite pretty again. The labor time would have been cut in half had I started with this approach instead of sanding by hand,, Works great on the fin edges too, if you have the black jug,, |
