Is your old one messed up?
You can take one off & go to a nut & bolt shop.
Or just take the adjuster,, thers nothing keeping it from screwing out by hand,,
The diameter of a bolt that takes a nut that fits a 10 MM wrench is the same to the best of my knowledge,

Dude, you got to find the missing nut or it will eventually "CRUNCH" your motor later on.

It is a fine thread metric nut, you might find one at a hardware store or you might have to order it from Suzuki -- safer to do that as it is an especially case hardened fine thread nut intended & built for the purpose.

It is a standard size though -- I have chased some burring out of the rocker arms before using a standard metric tap.

PLUS ONE to what Oddfeller said...
FIND THAT OLD NUT.
You can tear the engine down now, get it out and put it back together, or you can tear it down later at the side of the road, and replace however many critical components it eats along the way...

Even if you do find it though; if that old nut failed in some way, and this wasn't entirely caused by operator error, it may be wise to replace it.

Lol.. I'm caught! I seriously searched EVERYWHERE for that darn nut.. some people said that it may have fallen to the bottom of the oil pan or something of that nature.

YOud be riding a hand grenade with the pin pulled if you ride it without finding the old one,,

+1.  I just had to tear apart mine after I put her back together and had an extra washer floating around in the gen area.  Just that did enough damage.  It may be a PITA to do, but think about the pain YOUR gonna have if that thing finds its way to the gears at 65 on the highway.
Better and cheaper to fix it right now, than later man.  Just my Lincoln twins though.  Be safe.

I think that's a fairly appropriate comparison.  It's at least one with a loose pin ready to fall out.

I'd bet it's still under the head cover somewhere... lots of little nooks up there for it to get caught in..
Plus,.. it's easier to pull than the side case... :-?...

YAY!! Now that will save you 57 cents at the hardware store...
As well as a blown motor, and possible trip to the ER...

He's gonna owe himself more than that if he really didn't find his missing nut.

Lol.. I really found it guys. It was tucked in a corner near the right intake valve. I couldn't get to it before because the magnet was too big and couldn't fit.  So I got a smaller magnet and fished around hopelessly and it picked it right up.....

I was also able to complete the valve adjustment and it fires right up, as apposed to killing my battery 3 times a day trying to start it.

....... round of beers on me!!! Lol
