Title: New food...
Post by Serowbot on 04/14/12 at 09:55:44

Screw health,...
Let's list some favourite food combo's that taste great and may be unknown...

1.. Chocolate chip cookies (the crunchy kind, not mushy), with peanut butter smeared on them... Hmmmmm!...
(must have milk or you can't swallow)...

2. a standard in England, but unknown here... French fry sandwich (chip butty).... Mash some fries on a piece of buttered white bread and fold over... (more the better)...

3. Potato chip sandwich... with butter, ... steak sauce optional...

4. hot dog with cheese and ketchup, on white bread, toasted in the oven (set oven on broil)... (kids that won't eat anything else, will eat this)...

5. Frito's in tomato soup... (Oh yea, now yer' talkin')  Yumm!...

:-?...

Heh.  I was looking on http://thisiswhyyourefat.tumblr.com (a site designed to gross you out with way over-the-top greasy food) and there was this apple fritter thing.. stuffed with cream cheese, then wrapped in bacon.. I thought mMMMmmmMMm looks good!!  :D

Then.. true story.. we were having a safety meeting at work and the secretary brought probably the most dangerous food known to man.. brownies loaded with bacon bits.   I was going to have one, just to say I did, but thought better of it.  Brownies contain wheat, you know  ;D

Oh yeah.. I do love "rats."  As in, Jalapenos (or habaneros if you're feeling manly enough) stuffed with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon and barbecued. Last time I made those, I snuck a couple of habaneros in with the jalapenos and didn't tell anyone.. a good laugh was had by all.

Dill pickle wrapped in a slice of american cheese. Ummm.

Dill pickles breaded and fried. Ummm, even better.

Mayo and tomato sandwich on white bread.

Toasted raisin bread and maple syrup sandwich.

Yes to the potato chip sandwich, but with sliced bananas on it.  Also, baked bean sandwich.  Oh yes, and butter and mustard (The yellow kind) on a french roll.

I've been avoiding grains (with mixed success) for well over a year now, but I LOVE a (crunchy) peanut butter/mayo/bacon sandwich. Yes, seriously.

Thanks, 'bot - I just had dinner & now I'm hungry...

Ohh bud! If you wanna have fun... grill bhut jolokia peppers... AKA ghost chili pepper... YEEEOOOWW!  I love them very much... great flavor... but... the heat... 4x hotter than the beloved habanero...

P.S..  Marinate the fresh peppers..(jalapenos/ habaneros/ ghost peppers) in milk either overnight or minimum 2 hrs in MILK.... Trust me... Learnt the hard way from an army chef.... and maaaan is it good... Enjoy my friend...

WHOOOOO YEAH  man, I am going for it!  Already ordered seeds from http://www.thehottestpepper.com  -- that surfin' Hawaiian dude -- and got some jolokias that are just starting to bud out. Here I'll attach a pic of my ghost pepper plants.. can't wait to get the peppers and grill them, teeheeheee!!  :D

I am also thinking about adding them to crawfish boils.  The heat cooks out the spice to where you have to either spend a fortune on Zatarain's spice or use way too many habaneros, so I figure the jolokias will fix it right up.

I get hot sauces, after The Incident.
I cut up some fresh halepinios for a chile I was making. I didn't use gloves. I rubbed my eyes. Used a half quart of milk on 'em before they stopped tearing. Then, not having washed my hands, I took a leak. Used the other half quart on the package before it stopped burning. :-[
Almost as much fun as when my pharmacist misread a prescription and I put an analgesic cream for muscle pain on my hemeriods, instead of the anugesic he had prescribed. Did a little dance in the shower that day. ;D

Bread pans wired together on one end, small vise grips ( remove spring first) to close them, chopped up taters with butter, onion, garlic & jalapenos, bake on the grill..You can flip it, but spin it quick or lose butter.

I call them "Special Taste Bars"

I make them once a week and snack on them all
the time, they always taste great but always different,
here is why:

I juice mornings about every 2nd day
( I always make enough to last 2-3days)

and with the leftover mulch (carrots, apple,
celery, cucumber, kale, oranges, leafy greens,
pears, berries, anything really) I make fruit bars, yum.

* All you do is follow your favorite carrot cake recipe
and throw this stuff in (mulch) using about twice as much
as the recipe calls for shaved carrots, cut the sugar in half
(or use honey) and add maybe 15min of baking time, done.

if you want vegan replace:

Butter with coconut oil, or other oil
eggs with peanut butter or fig puree
and milk with mineral water

I also always throw in a banana, nuts
and raisins for consistency and use only
spelt flour and sometimes oatmeal.

Aren't those just the cutest little peters....   ;D  :)

I'm gonna have to try a few of you guy's recipes.  But you all reminded me of one day I came walking down the hall, looked into the bathroom, and found my (first) husband standing at the sink, with his naked manhood hanging out, trying to splash cold water on it.  Before I could ask, he said "I was cutting up those jalepeno's and needed to pee"...  That was over 20 years ago and still cracks me up.   ;D

That pretty much is the recipe.  Choose your cheese.  I like jack and cheddar mixed.  Folks who want theirs milder will like cream cheese.  Cut the stem ends off the jalapenos, fill 'em with cheese, wrap 'em in your favorite breakfast sausage (I like to use spicy varieties) and roll it in Shake N Bake.  I think I bake 'em at 375 and just watch 'em until they look done.  Fresh jalapenos are easiest to work with and have a brighter, fresh-garden flavor I love.  Some folks just like pickled jalapenos better though.  Recipe works the same for either but pickled ones split easily when stuffing 'em with cheese, so be careful.

Those hardboiled eggs sound good.  I may try a Shake N Bake version of those instead of deep-frying and see how they come out.

And when it comes to bhut jolokia, I have thus far been unsuccessful in growing my own but I've since learned they really have to be babied when sprouts (i.e. raised indoors on top of a heating pad until they're like 8 inches high, then transplanted outside ONLY if temps are already quite warm.  They die very easily when young if temps dip below the 70's at night.  On the bright side, Firehouse Pantry (http://www.firehousepantrystore.com/bhjopepr.html) has quite a lot of products available and the ground bhut jolokia is excellent.  It has a smoky flavor sort of like chilpotle but with a significantly increased scalp-sweat factor.
