Title: Why T6 instead of T?
Post by CaptialThumper on 04/13/12 at 18:49:16

I just got back from Walmart, and I noticed that 5 litres of Rotella T6 (blue) is the same price as 9.5 litres of Rotella T (white). As they both have the JASO MA designation, why is the more expensive one favored around here? The only difference of substance that I could identify is that T6's label says that it's synthetic, whereas T label doesn't. Is synth the deciding factor?

You don't have to run T6 synthetic in a stock Savage, the standard white jug stuff is fine.

Some of us have modified engines and we tend to use synthetic oils as they can shrug off any temperature the Savage can rationally get up to, no matter how badly we thrash it.

Simple cheap safety margin for hot modified engines, really.
