Title: cleaning Post by Cavie on 04/08/12 at 10:17:06 How do you clean the side motor case covers? Mine are slightly pitted and discolored. Done really want to remove but will if nessessary. |
Title: Re: cleaning Post by Serowbot on 04/08/12 at 12:11:19 Just use the same stuff you use on your paint,.. because they are actually clear-coated... ... but,.. if the discoloration is under the clearcoat, the only way to remove it is to remove the clearcoat... Then,.. you'll either have to keep it polished or re apply a protective coating... |
Title: Re: cleaning Post by Cavie on 04/08/12 at 14:16:33 I'm sure this is gonna be clearcoat removal and some serious buffing or fine sanding. |
Title: Re: cleaning Post by justin_o_guy2 on 04/08/12 at 18:33:41 I dont like chemicals, so, I went at it manually. After some laborious & very slow approaches, I found a green Scotch Brite pad will mount like sandpaper in a palm sized orbital. A spray bottle of water & a sprits on the case & a few on the pad. If you run it too long, or run it dry it will make the aluminum very dark,, |
