Title: Lowering my ride..
Post by heroicseven on 04/05/12 at 11:34:09

I'm looking for some shocks I can replace my stock ones with that are an easy swap and will lower the back just a bit.

Ive seen a thread on cutting the spring but my shocks are leaking and failing.

Anybody have good luck with any particular brand/model?

It gets close on speed bumps now,, You Sure you want it lower? I drag pegs so bad now I cant imagine it lower.

I feel like the back is a little high but maybe Its just the way it needs to be. I'll have to look into it more.

Yea,, I would,, stand it up & see how close to the ground the lowest point is, lean it over & see how far it goes b4 something hits, Heck,, mite otta compress the suspension some, like youre on it. Or maybe even suck it down to where ya think ya want it,, ? Sure would be uncool to drop a load of $$$ & time in it to find out ya vandalized it.. :)

Tough lowering it and still having much for a rear suspension... already limited on travel without bottoming out.

If you want to really lower it, you might want to consider swapping the shocks for some struts. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the stock shocks stand at an eye to eye distance of 10.5" - my bike had these struts on it when I bought it with a 9" eye to eye distance. It definitely sat lower, and spooked me the first time a dragged a peg, but it wasn't worth the lack of suspension to have it sit that low for me. (Sold these to another member a couple years ago)
