Title: handlebar pouch
Post by Buster on 03/27/12 at 04:48:05

My search skills must suck. For those that owned them or are familiar with handlebar tool pouches, who makes the best one for the Savage? Thanks.

Everyone I ever owned was a universal fit. Don't use one anymore.

The one I use is just a "tool pouch" that came with my slightly used bike.  It's handy for my registration, tire gauge, garage door opener, etc.

I have a leather fanny pack zip tied to my bars...
.... and,.. I drive a Geo Metro...
Ahhh.... Gulp!... :-?...

Anyway,.. the fanny pack works real well...

(I looked up "metrosexual"... and I'm not...  I can't even afford to shop at the GAP)...
;D...

Here's a pic of my fanny pack,.. with my Metro in the background...
(can't see either very well)...

Your bike is proof enough that you arent a metrosexual,,I thot you had a fanny pack on that thing,, I forgot about the Geo, tho,, A fanny pack is easy enough to get & otta work great.
My Savage luggage is a gym bag, glued & sewn onto thin plywood with D-rings on webbing sewn in so it straps on the back lengthways, hangs out over the light. I can pack loads of stuff in that thing.

Even Walmart sells the universal ones.

Don't put much in it if you run the cheap junk stock plastic headlight bucket...

Best made synthetic is River Road, although the buckles rust pretty quick. Best leather is... wait for it... synthetic.

Best looking? Willie and Max, but I hope you know how to sew... the seams are not rolled in and the thread they use is pretty flimsy. I took mine apart, put welting (burgundy vinyl over string trimmer line, hand sewn) in the seams, sewed it together inside out. Turn it right side out and use some rivets to reattach the liner (corrugated plastic).

Ordered this one. Thought it looked good and because of the quick release fasteners hidden under leather belt straps.

Looks good, like the man said, be careful of it hitting the h/lite with anything in it thats heavy/hard.. cuz its a wimpy plastic shell.. & if it sits on it at all,, its gonna rub it & mess it up.

So, does it go above or under light? I just figured it went under...

It goes where you put it,... but,.. if you mount it below the light, it may rub the paint off the fender when you hit bumps...
:-?...

I have one mounted behind my solo seat... :-?...

Arrived today and I decided to mount under light. Pouch looks very much like one in photo. No tags or labels on it - looks handmade, but nice quality. I like the mounting straps...they look like helmet chin straps.
