Title: Michelin Commander II
Post by MMRanch on 03/25/12 at 21:36:27

Well I bit the bullet and bought one .

Found this add :

new standard in cruiser tire longevity
•Independent tests* show that the Michelin® Commander® II rear tire lasts almost twice as long its main competitors, the Metzeler ME880 and the Dunlop D407/408

That the tire I'll ride the DRAGON  with in a few month  ,   with a Avon RoadRunner on the front.   The Avon grip was more than enough for the  Radial TA on the back , it will be interesting to see how it does with the Michelin.

Time will tell !

The  Car tire BFGoodrich Radial TA  was a nice ride , but couldn't take the lower tire presure and keep its cords intacted at the same time !

Quote:
Independent tests carried out in the United States using a Harley-Davidson® Electra Glide® Classic showed that a rear Michelin Commander II is capable of covering up to 40,000 kilometres*.

KInda hard to misread that part.. IMO, Almost Twice as long has got to be at least 1.666 times as long, & it doesnt matter about miles vs. Km.

I can be satisfied with 25,000 miles.  :)

Now "Where Can We Go!" ?

My last tank-full averaged out to 63 mpg.  but that wasn't "OldFeller" style driving !  ;D
Tire life may be closely related to Fuel millage.  So if a person get 40 mpg on a savage ... how long does their tire last ?  ;D

OOHHH, good question.  I wonder if any tests have been done based on the weight of the driver.  I know when my daughter gets on my MPG goes down.

Well Tony

Your tire should last longer , ridding double.   Less slip and all ! ;D

She might at that, it's not that she weighs all that much, it's just with me on there it gets close to the weight limit on that bike.  Did you know the Savage had a weight limit?
