I looked for a thread I saw but, can't find it. What is the wear length limit on the cam chain?

You put in the extra hole at 16,000 to 18,000 miles, the chain then wears through the extension of the cam tensioner again until it hits itself in the middle, then you get yourself a new cam chain.

Your miles to do so will vary according to the oil you use and how active your wrist is ....

it's 5" new

5 plus a 1/16" is nearly the limit over 21 pins, center to center.
5.071" more or less.

put some tension on it.
