I find this with my students a LOT! They are expecting a difficult question, or a difficult solution to a question, so they come up with a difficult solution to satisfy their expectations.
But I don't think she's the brightest candle in the church, though. ;D

The guy is having a good time now.
He can think circles around her, but she's still "right"
He doesn't reallize what that means... for the future.
He's going to have to beat her down till she accepts that she's wrong... every time.
